about

"Silent Key" verges into rock and roll territory with it's faster tempo and tapestry of Johnny Marr-like guitars and synths. It's the 1980's funneled into a song about the resuscitative power of affection.

Note: a "silent key" is when an amateur radio operator has died, and his or her Morse code key machine has gone silent.

lyrics

SILENT KEY (sanden)

if this is nothing i can walk right on the sun
i am a fool how could i have been so dumb?
under the moon at the back of the bar pretty vacant am i
it’s a feeling as i crawl thru the grass i find the hidden glass
haunted by the hush sunlight runs away from me
quiet is too much a silent key sits silently
heaven is always one kiss away from the chair in which you sit
hungry now feed me from your red lips
you crawled straight down smoldering cratering you revive
it’s CPR baby butterfly surprise
haunted by the hush angelina patently too much
a silent key sits silently
i know it all too well: psychic pain
fox in the snow please stay
fox in the snow ease the pain
fox in the snow please stay

about

demitasse Texas

Demitasse (pronounced “DEHmee-toss”) is a two piece acoustic group. It is the side project for Erik Sanden and Joe Reyes of the Texas art rock band Buttercup. Mixing melody, spoken word, and noise, the sound is somewhere between Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, and the Beach Boys on a dark day. Or Elliott Smith on an extremely bright, sunny day. Or John Cale tossing his car keys to Neil Young. ... more
